The Gateway Services District, a Community Development District (CDD), provides water for about 12,717 residents living in the area of Fort Myers, Florida. Established in 1986, the Gateway Services District System is currently obtaining its supply from Lee County Utilities (LCU) through a bulk potable water supply agreement. LCU gets its water from a blend of groundwater sources: the Corkscrew wellfield which pumps water from the Sandstone, Surficial, and Lower Hawthorn aquifers; and the Green Meadows wellfield which pumps water from the Lower Hawthorn, Sandstone, Surficial, and water table aquifers.
