The Erwin Utilities Authority provides water for about 12,980 people living in the Erwin area, Tennessee. Established in 1945, the Erwin Utilities' water system in the Nolichucky River Watershed, draws water from a spring and three wells located in the Honaker Formation. The Honaker formation is made of limestone, dolomite, and shale rock with layers of gravel.
