The Clear Lake City Water Authority (CLCWA), a public community water system, provides water for about 85,636 residents living in the area of Jupiter, Texas. Established in 1963, the Clear Lake City Water Authority collects water from a blend of sources: 98% surface water purchased from the Houston’s Southeast Water Purification Plant (SEWPP) and a portion (1%) from Pasadena City. Raw surface water may come from the San Jacinto River through Lake Houston. CLCWA also supplement its surface water with groundwater during peak hours from wells that pump from the Gulf Coast Aquifer.
