The Plaquemine City Light & Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Utilities, provides water for about 14,043 residents living in the area of Plaquemine, a city in and the parish seat of Iberville Parish, Louisiana. Established in 1838, the City of Plaquemine Utilities Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of groundwater sources, notably five wells, three in Plaquemine and two in West Baton Rouge Parish, which pump water from the Mississippi River Alluvial Aquifer and the Jasper equivalent aquifer system.
